Bakuchiol and Babchi Oil are often confused, but they’re not the same and the difference matters for your skin.

Bakuchiol is a purified compound extracted from the seeds or leaves of the Babchi plant. At effective levels (0.5%–1%), it delivers retinol-like results,smoothing texture, softening fine lines, and evening tone without the irritation.

Babchi Oil, on the other hand, is a less refined extract of the whole plant. It contains a variety of compounds, including some Bakuchiol, but the amount can vary. This makes it less potent and less consistent, even when a label suggests a high percentage.

When you’re choosing a product, look for pure Bakuchiol listed at 0.5%–1%. That’s the sweet spot for results that are both effective and gentle.
