Bakuchiol and babchi oil are not the same ingredient and the difference matters when you're choosing a product.

Bakuchiol is a purified compound extracted from the seeds and leaves of the babchi plant. At 0.5% to 1%, it delivers clinically studied results for smoother texture, softer lines, more even tone without the irritation or sun sensitivity of traditional retinol.

Babchi oil is the whole oil pressed from the same plant. It does contain some bakuchiol, but alongside many other compounds and at a concentration that varies from batch to batch. A product can list a high percentage of babchi oil and still contain very little active bakuchiol. More does not mean more effective.

When you're reading a label, look for the word bakuchiol specifically not babchi oil at a percentage between 0.5% and 1%. That is where the research lives and where the results are.
